Archbishop Justin Duckworth

The Most Reverend Justin Duckworth is Bishop of Wellington and Senior Bishop of New Zealand Dioceses and Te Pīhopa Mātāmua (Primate), and Archbishop of the Anglican Church in Aotearoa, New Zealand and Polynesia.

Archbishop Justin was confirmed as Archbishop and Te Pīhopa Mātāmua during General Synod 2024 succeeding Archbishop Emeritus Philip Richardson who was serving as Co-ordinating Bishop, Tikanga Pākehā.

Following his ordination into Holy Orders, Archbishop Justin served Priest Assistant in Waikanae while leading Urban Vision from Ngatiawa river monastery. He has served as Bishop of Wellington since 2012, and Te Pīhopa Mātāmua and Archbishop since 2024.

In his ministry as diocesan bishop, Archbishop Justin has sought to deepen the diocese’s culture of missional discipleship across all aspects of diocesan life. He is likewise excited about building up the life of the wider Anglican Church to care for the last, the lost and the least. He and his wife Jenny are based in Whanganui, in the north of the Diocese of Wellington.
